Canalway Partners will bring tours, music, bike rides, theater performances, and community events to Canal Basin Park this summer, creating new opportunities for Clevelanders to experience the downtown riverfront.
Starting in June, Canal Basin Park will host history tours, a monthly bike ride, music events, a community picnic, and downtown’s only performances of the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival.
“As plans continue with the City of Cleveland for the full development of Canal Basin Park, we invite people to discover new experiences in the place where Cleveland began. Between history tours and live performances, Canalway hopes you’ll make a new memory at this iconic riverfront spot,” said Mera Cardenas, Executive Director at Canalway Partners.
Summer Schedule in Canal Basin Park
All events are free and open to the public. Registration is requested for Cycle Canalway bike rides and Take a Hike tours. Public parking is available at 989 West Street.
About Canal Basin Park
Located in downtown Cleveland on the east bank of The Flats, Canal Basin Park is the historic site where the 1832 Ohio & Erie Canal met the Cuyahoga River. Today, Canal Basin Park is a 22-acre urban riverfront that offers exceptional connections to the river and is home to the region’s most significant convergence of movement—along trails, across water, through downtown, and into surrounding neighborhoods. Canal Basin is the northern terminus of the 95+ mile Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail.
Through park redevelopment and immersive riverfront experiences, open green spaces, and embedded history, the park will become a dynamic destination that strengthens community connections and inspires a renewed sense of identity for residents, visitors, and adventurers at the region’s northern gateway.
