Canalway is pleased to share three new members have been added to its board of directors. The new members were confirmed at the July 30 board meeting. The appointments are:
“The Canalway board is excited to welcome three new members as we continue expanding our network of support for the organization. I believe each of these new board members has the experience and enthusiasm to help us further Canalway’s mission of connecting people to place and advance our work to develop Canal Basin Park. We look forward to working together on these goals,” said David Jurca, Board Chair for Canalway.
The board now has 18 members.

Joan Chase
Joan Chase is Chief Operating Officer of the Cuyahoga County Land Reutilization Corporation (Cuyahoga Land Bank), where she oversees day-to-day operations and leads the execution of the Land Bank’s strategic priorities across property acquisition, redevelopment, disposition, and neighborhood revitalization. In this role, she works closely with the President & CEO and leadership team to translate strategy into action, strengthen organizational performance, and ensure the Land Bank delivers measurable, community-centered impact across Cuyahoga County.
Joan brings deep experience at the intersection of real estate, economic development, and public-private collaboration. She holds an M.S. in Urban Studies with a concentration in Economic Development from Cleveland State University and a B.A. in Economics from Case Western Reserve University. She lives in Cleveland’s Edgewater neighborhood with her husband, twin sons, and a very silly dog in a century-old house that is perpetually under renovation.
Yuran Chen
Yuran is a Senior Manager at Eaton, where he focuses on enterprise strategy and growth initiatives. In this role, he evaluates emerging technologies, investment opportunities, and enterprise priorities that impact Eaton’s end markets and capabilities. Before joining Eaton, Yuran worked as a consultant, leveraging data science to help companies across a wide range of industries improve business decisions and outcomes.
Yuran brings experience in strategic planning, advanced analytics, and technology-enabled transformation, with a particular interest in how organizations create sustainable, long-term value. He is passionate about strengthening communities through thoughtful investment, collaboration, and stewardship of shared resources. A proud Ohio native, Yuran received his BA in Public Policy from Duke University and MBA from the University of Chicago before returning home to Ohio in 2023. He and his wife live on the East Side with their two dogs. In his spare time, he likes to golf, play tennis, and test his patience by rooting for Cleveland’s sports teams.
Monica McGuire
Monica McGuire is a Resource Management Analyst at Hyland Software, with extensive experience in working with global cross functional teams to align talent, business priorities, and operational strategy to deliver successful outcomes. She is passionate about building collaborative relationships and creating efficient processes that enable organizations to achieve their objectives. Known for her strategic mindset, strong communication skills, and people-first approach, Monica excels at balancing client needs with those of the business. She considers her professional superpower to be a never-ending curiosity.
Monica has a BFA from Columbus College of Art & Design with a focus on time-based media and illustration. Outside of the daily work routine, Monica enjoys photography, planning her next adventure, and exploring the great outdoors with family, friends, and her pup, Maverick.
