On Friday we stopped by stage three of the Towpath Trail extension and were pleased to see asphalt paving has been laid on most of the trail. The 1.9 mi segment starts north of Steelyard Commons and traces the eastern border of Tremont, ending at the intersection of Literary and University Rds.
Decking has been installed on the Towpath Mounds observation deck, providing a sweeping view of the industrial valley corridor. The stage three construction schedule has the bridge spanning W. 7th St. to be completed around the middle of December. Stage one of the Towpath Trail, currently under construction, will eventually connect stage three to the current trail’s northern terminus at Harvard Rd.
