Race Day, Course and Parking

Day of Schedule

Starting line: On West St. between Merwin and Columbus near Canal Basin Park at 989 West Street, Cleveland, OH 44113

There will be no race day registration or packet pickup. 

Schedule of Events

• 6:30 am – Full marathon walkers are encouraged to start at 6:30 am. 
• 7:30 am – Full marathon runners start. 
• 8:00 am – Half marathon runners start. 
• 8:10 am – 10K runners start. 
• 2:00 pm - Course closes.

Course Description

The marathon and half marathon also include a railroad crossing. We do not expect a train but please be aware and wait for any passing trains. Security will be onsite for additional safety. Mark your time and we will adjust times for any delay caused by a train or emergency marine traffic. 

The first and last 3 miles of the course include hills. The course follows the Towpath Trail, starting and ending in Canal Basin Park. The start line is on the road at West Street but the finish line is on the Towpath Trail. All races at out and backs with turnaround points at the halfway point of each distance. 

The courses follow the Towpath Trail within the Cleveland Metroparks and takes the Full Marathon into the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The Towpath Marathon full course is USATF Certified.

*All courses are on paved surface, though the surface in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park is crushed limestone

Paid Parking Lots Closest to the Start line

• Metro Parking - 1468 Columbus Road
• Tower City Parking - 963 Canal Rd
• Riverview South Lot -  351 Canal Rd
• 1801 Robert Lockwood Jr Dr (Cash Only, usually $5 but prices may vary)

Other parking options:

• Arrive extra early to take advantage of street parking. The Flats has free street parking on most side streets. West Street will be closed for the race. 
• The Cleveland Metroparks' lot at 1587 Merwin Ave. Paid lot.

Please arrive with plenty of time to find parking and walk to start line.
