Immerse yourself in talks and tours at the extraordinary Cleveland Public Library Main Branch. Join Canalway in the Louis Stokes Wing, 2nd Floor Learning Commons for enlightening and entertaining discussions.

  • 11a.m.: John Vacha will share details from his latest book “Playhouse Square and the Cleveland Renaissance,” a comprehensive account of Playhouse Square history from the 1921 opening and the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the theaters.
  • 12:30 p.m.: The Cleveland Public Library holdings aren’t limited to books. Join staff for a tour of the Main Library and explore the collections of maps, games, and architecture features of the 100-year-old building.

  • 2 p.m.: D.M. Pulley: Before becoming an author, D.M. Pulley worked as a Professional Engineer rehabbing historic structures and assessing building failures. Her survey of a vacant building in Cleveland, Ohio inspired her best-selling debut, The Dead Key, one of several of Pulley's Gothic thrillers inspired by true-crime and real places. Join her for a discussion of her work on local buildings and the dark stories they tell.
  • 3 p.m.: Long-time collaborators John Grabowski and Lauren Pacini will preview “Empire Builders” which covers the rise of brothers Oris P. and Mantis J. Van Sweringen who built Cleveland’s Terminal Tower and the commuter railway system to connect Cleveland and the suburb, Shaker Heights.
