Conceived in 1796, Public Square marked the heart of Cleveland—a 9.5-acre open space inspired by New England town plans. Just north lies the 1903 Mall Plan, a City Beautiful design that produced six grand civic buildings from 1912–1931. Both spaces anchor the city’s historic and civic identity.
