Partnerships

Canalway works with a variety of local partners on advocacy projects in the Ohio & Erie Canalway.

These strategic partnerships increase our ability to preserve our cultural and natural resources and help us promote projects and empower communities.

Public Spaces

During the planning and construction of the Towpath Trail, Canalway was one of the partners on the four-party agreement to get the job done. This partnership with Cuyahoga County, the City of Cleveland, the Cleveland Metroparks and Canalway set the stage for the planning, fundraising and construction of the trail itself. In this agreement, Canalway acted as the vision-keeper and main fundraiser throughout the years’ long project.

Looking into the future of Canal Basin Park, Canalway continues to partner with the City of Cleveland, Downtown Cleveland Alliance and Cleveland Metroparks to design and build a park that honors the history of the canal while also providing amenities to the growing population of residents in downtown Cleveland.

Strategic Initiative Grants

Through the Ohio & Erie Canalway Association and our partnership with the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition and the National Park Service, we work to offer Strategic Initiative Grants to select projects that support the mission of the Ohio & Erie Canalway Association and benefit the National Heritage Area as a whole. Learn More about Strategic Initiative Grants.
